FALLING WATERS, W.Va. — Northbound Interstate 81 was closed near the Spring Mills exit for about 45 minutes Sunday morning following a four-vehicle crash that sent a woman to the hospital, authorities said.
The crash was caused by a drunk driver, Berkeley County Sheriff Curtis Keller alleged.
Arango Barnaby, 40, address unavailable, was charged with driving under the influence, Keller said.
Keller said Kiota Gainey, 61, address unavailable, was taken to Berkeley Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries.
It took firefighters about 10 minutes to extricate the female driver who went to the hospital, Bedington Volunteer Fire Chief David Brining said.
The crash at the 20.8 mile-marker was reported at 5:45 a.m., a Berkeley County 911 supervisor said.
One lane was reopened about 30 to 45 minutes later, with the slow lane reopening almost 2 hours after the crash, Brining said.
The northbound lanes were reopened by 7:30 a.m., the 911 supervisor said.
No further information about the crash was available, Keller said.
