Celebrate Father's Day at Open Airplane Afternoon with Hagerstown Regional Airport

Experience the thrill of open cockpit flying, weather permitting, Sunday, June 15
Hagerstown, Md. (June 11, 2014) - Bring Dad and celebrate Father's Day and aviation with the Hagerstown Regional Airport (HGR) and the Hagerstown Aviation Museum at Open Airplane Afternoon, Sunday June 15, 1 - 4 p.m. at Hagerstown Regional Airport, 18434 Showalter Road.
A behind-the-scenes look at 12 Hagerstown-built aircraft kids and adults alike can climb aboard the Fairchild C-82 and C-119 Flying Boxcar. Other aviation artifacts on site include the 1928 Kreider Reisner KR-31 biplane, 1943 Fairchild PT-19 WWII Trainer and Fairchild 24, all built in Hagerstown. Admission is free but donations are welcomed.
For World War II enthusiasts, author Vincent Gisriel, Jr. of Hearts Away, Bombs Away will be on hand to sign and share the beautiful love story of his parents, a true World War II hero and the woman he left at home in Baltimore.
Event will be held rain or shine and museum merchandise, books, DVDs and hats will be available for purchase. By making a $100 donation, you can even experience the thrill of open cockpit flying, weather permitting. All attendees will receive a free museum magazine and aircraft collection color poster.
Mark your calendar, HGR's annual Wings and Wheels Expo is September 21.
Directions: From Route 11, turn onto Basore Drive at Tony's Pizza and follow the signs. From Interstate 81 take Showalter Road Exit 10A. The airport entrance is a quarter-mile on your left.
